Unicorns in the Trenches – LGBTQ+ Soldiers in the Ukrainian Army [Turin 03/21]

We support this initiative, we will be participating, and we invite you to join us. Below is the post from Arcigay Torino’s Instagram profile containing all the relevant information:

“On Saturday, March 21, we look forward to seeing you starting at 6:30 PM at our CasArcobaleno headquarters at Via Bernardino Lanino 3/A for ‘Unicorns in the Trenches: LGBTQIA*+ Fighters in the Ukrainian Army.’

Since the start of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine, LGBTQ+ fighters have been present in the army, fighting on two fronts: against the occupiers on the front lines and for civil rights within the country.

We will present this reality through video interviews and a live connection from Ukraine with a group of LGBT activists known as the “unicorns.”

The event will be introduced by Emma Schiavon, a historian and activist, who will discuss the crucial importance of this conflict and present the Sinistra per l’Ucraina network, and Paolo Siccardi, a war photojournalist who has been to Donbass on multiple occasions between 2014 and 2020.

Admission is free and open to those with a valid Arci or Arcigay membership card; during the event, it will be possible to sign up for or renew only the Arcigay membership card.”
